Momma Said What?
Having a mom that's a teacher has meant a lifetime of learning. And as a professional storyteller, it means a lifetime of lessons to apply. Here’s some key lessons I’m applying:
1. Time has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters
2. Once you lose time, you never get it back
3. If we wait until we’re ready, we will always be waiting
4. Sometimes later becomes never
5. If you’re late for dinner, you may not get a pork chop
The lesson: Take life by the horns. Make your own opportunities.
6. It’s nice to be important, but it’s important to always be nice
7. Everyone you’re nice to is not going to be nice back
8. Sometimes people just don’t like you, and that’s okay
9. When people treat you like they don’t care, believe them
10. Life has drama in it… deal with it!
The lesson: Do you and let others worry about themselves.
11. Take more opportunities than not, you may never have that chance again
12. Don’t be afraid to start over
13. Don’t be afraid to fail
14. Don’t be afraid to change your mind
15. Opportunities dance with those on the dance floor
The lesson: Get on with it!
16. We are defined by our actions towards others, not others actions toward us
17. You can never give too much of your time to others
18. But you need others to pour time into you
19. Learn to have a conversation… which is dialogue, back and forth, full sentences
20. But don’t forget to listen, which us understanding and learning, and considering
The lesson: People matter.
21. Be passionate… at least sometimes
22. No one can get in the way of using your mind to the fullest
23. Your best teacher is your last mistake
24. Never stop dreaming
25. Clear eyes, full hearts can’t lose (Okay… that one was Coach Taylor, but it’s a good one)
The lesson: It will be okay.
