12th Annual Film Ranking (2016)
Man do I love movies. There is nothing like seeing a film on the big screen. You can find me almost all the way in the back, center, cozily enjoying a good flick (and some bad ones) at least once a week.
In 2016, I actually went back multiple times for several films. I watched films in 3D, IMAX, Atmos Surround, Stadium Seating, and so on, and so on.
As a lifelong Star Wars fan, I anxiously awaited the debut of a new chapter to the sage, outside of the canon... and loved it! (Saw it four times in two weeks). And superhero movies continue to make me very happy. I've yet to be totally disappointed, mostly because I go into them with a child's wonder. I want to enjoy the experience, so I often can brush off some of the challenges some insist on picking on. (It's a movie folks... not real-life!) I also deeply enjoy dramas... the weepier, the better! (Was surprised by how much I loved #10 on the list.) And historical movies, like #7, strike a pretty solid chord too!
A great year at the movies! Here is my ranking of all the films I saw at the cinema:
Rogue One -- saw it four times
Deadpool -- the Merc with a Mouth was too much fun (and filthy)
Doctor Strange -- superhero movie masquerading as traditional drama.
Manchester by the Sea -- still crying!
Everybody Wants Some!! -- just a fun 80's flick
Ben-Hur -- why???
Independence Day: Resurgence -- total and complete waste!
