Choose Your True Self

It’s time to stop borrowing other people’s lines.

Too often, we live inside the story someone else wrote for us.

The family script. The societal checklist. The “rules” meant to keep us in the safe, tidy little box called life.

But here’s the thing — those boxes aren’t built for growth. They’re built for compliance.

By now, you know I’ve never been great at coloring inside the lines. Not because I’m trying to be difficult, but because I refuse to be anything less than fully me. The result? Not everyone’s expectations get met… but mine do. Usually. And I get to end each day knowing I showed up 100% authentic, win or fail.

I’m not issuing a rallying cry to be a contrarian for sport. Instead, I am inviting you to figure out who you really are — and stop living life on the lowest common denominator of what you could be.

If you want to find your true self, start here:

  • Get quiet— you can’t hear your own voice if you’re drowning in noise.

  • Audit your “shoulds”— every time you say “I should…,” ask whose rulebook you’re following.

  • Test your edges— try things that scare you a little; discomfort reveals possibility.

  • Document your sparks— keep track of what energizes you and what drains you.

When you operate as your true and best self, the ripple effect is huge. The world gets your full potential — not the watered-down version. This is when impact really happens!

So, how do you see yourself?

Because if you don’t define it, someone else will.
